I’ve been busy 🫠

The past couple of weeks have been absolutely packed with hand painting all of my bisque ware that I’ve made over the past couple of months for this upcoming holiday season!!
The next step (the rest of today) will be brushing on wax on all of the pieces in preparation for glazing and their final firing tomorrow.

Hi folks!  It has been a hot minute since I posted on here.
There has been big intense things that have come up in the past couple months so posting has been the least of my priorities.  Anyways, work wise I have been:
✨Working non-stop on pottery for the upcoming holiday season.
✨Working in the sketch stage for an upcoming nonfiction children’s book!

In my personal life: ✨Harvesting my garden’s fall bounty (look at the giant purple carrot!!)
✨Doing a couple of fun things like canoeing and a quick camping trip with Ben & Heidi
✨Playing Animal Crossing on my switch 👀
✨And most importantly, getting quality time with my sister’s family and my sweet nephews down in Langley!

We haven’t done much for hiking this year since we’ve been working on recovering Heidi’s shoulder- but we were able to go for a quick alpine jaunt up McBride Peak yesterday…

I’ve begun pottery making for the fall/winter holiday season! I even made a fancy little spreadsheet for what I would like to accomplish and you better believe a ton o’ mugs are on the list.

Today was spent trimming mugs and attaching handles. This will be the first batch of many!
For the second picture I did not have to lay out the handles like that… but also i kind of did. 🤷‍♀️

This week has been filled with gardening, field walks and packing up all of your online shop orders and getting them sent out (thank you so much!)

I harvested our garlic a couple days ago since it’s been quite wet lately and I was getting worried about them going bad, so *maybe* they could’ve used a bit time but I’m still excited! We also harvested onion last week so now they are stinking up our basement while they hang in our basement to cure.

We’ve also had so many raspberries and I’ve been out every evening with a step ladder getting a bowlful.

I had such a nice time camping, selling wares and celebrating the reopening of the Berg Lake Trail at Mt. Robson Provincial Park this past weekend!

It was very nostalgic to spend time in the area since Ben spent 3 years as a Park Ranger out at Mt. Robson (several years ago eeeeek)!
In that time I got very familiar with the area especially morning walks on the Berg Lake Trail. It was also so inspiring for my art practice and helped me develop my children’s books “The Not-So Great Outdoors” and “Outside Art” and was the place of a lot of sketching. It’s safe to say Mt. Robson has a place in my heart forever!

Thank you to my sweetie, @hawkinsb2 for helping me and pal, Rachelle and @yourbcparks for working so hard on organizing this event!

I will be out of studio this week on vacation but I am still planning on doing an online shop update July 13 9am PT.

I’ve been super busy the last few weeks working on a fresh batch of pottery.

I snapped these pictures yesterday morning, since then these have have been waxed, glazed and are currently going through their glaze firing. It will be ready to be unloaded Wednesday morning, fingers crossed the kiln gods have been kind🤞👀

These pieces will be available at Mt. Robson Provincial park this coming Saturday, June 28 from 10am-2pm.

I’ve been working on trying to ignore scale and have more playful compositions. I find I often set arbitrary rules for myself when I really don’t need to! So many of my favourite artists throw perspective by the wayside and I think I need to channel that more!

A little gal tending to her garden.

I tried to plan a lot less with the foliage for this one. I had a rough composition and a sketch of the gal worked out and the rest was more intuition based. Some things got overworked in my opinion but overall it turned out ok.
Downside was when I was taking off the tape, it caught on the upper right and tore the top layer of paper so I had to crop in a bit in photoshop to compensate.
