GARDEN JOURNAL NO. 04

We got our @sproutboxgarden set up a couple of weeks ago and now I’ve ✨ finally✨ gotten a post together to share!

It was super easy to put together and if we hadn’t had other landscaping projects on the go it would have been up more quickly!

I planted pumpkins on each end (ones I started from seedlings) and bought a zucchini plant to put in the middle. I also planted sunflowers in between and may even plant some peas to climb up them soon!

I think I’ll be putting together an illustration of it soon, it’s so cute and such a welcome addition to our veggie garden! 🥰

GARDEN JOURNAL NO. 03

Heading into my last week for my book deadline and feeling good! Just edits and tweaking things for consistency now!

I loved how this curious little gal and toad turned out in this spread 💚

Things have been picking up in the garden lately!
 Currently in bloom:  Lilacs & Strawberries 
Seeds:  All germinated except for a couple of duds, the basil is definitely slower but the pumpkin seedlings are noticeably growing by the day! I have them on a heat pad at night and then bring out my @sproutboxgarden tray and cells during the day!

Garden:
I filled and planted a bunch of pots. I bring in my tomatoes and peppers in at night since we still have risk of frost. I also worked on a flower bed which included adding, dividing and rearranging perennials.

Last week I received a raised planter bed and a seed starting kit from Canadian company @sproutboxgarden and have been really excited to put them to use- starting with starting some seeds!

I’ve been pretty busy lately with my illustration work so I’m a bit late to be starting seeds… but I still think it’s better late than never!

I decided to start some basil in the wild sage cell trays and pumpkin seeds in the terracotta. That was on Saturday so I’m hopeful that they’ll germinate soon!

Ben and I stayed in the most beautiful little guest house in Smithers for a little ski vacation this week.

No downhill because of some intense wind but lots of xcountry skiing. We really learned the importance of waxing skis with the temperatures hovering around zero and the snow being super sticky!

Winter decided to come back for a spell (VERY happy about this), so we went for a little ski yesterday with friends at Huble Homestead. I love going there in the winter it’s so beautiful with the snow piled around the buildings. ❄️

I’m hoping painting big pumpkins for this children’s book spread will help me manifest some for the upcoming garden season. 🌿🌱

Back in our snowy little town after heading down south for the week to spend time and visit family. 💛

I’ve been busy 🫠

The past couple of weeks have been absolutely packed with hand painting all of my bisque ware that I’ve made over the past couple of months for this upcoming holiday season!!
The next step (the rest of today) will be brushing on wax on all of the pieces in preparation for glazing and their final firing tomorrow.

Hi folks!  It has been a hot minute since I posted on here.
There has been big intense things that have come up in the past couple months so posting has been the least of my priorities.  Anyways, work wise I have been:
✨Working non-stop on pottery for the upcoming holiday season.
✨Working in the sketch stage for an upcoming nonfiction children’s book!

In my personal life: ✨Harvesting my garden’s fall bounty (look at the giant purple carrot!!)
✨Doing a couple of fun things like canoeing and a quick camping trip with Ben & Heidi
✨Playing Animal Crossing on my switch 👀
✨And most importantly, getting quality time with my sister’s family and my sweet nephews down in Langley!

We haven’t done much for hiking this year since we’ve been working on recovering Heidi’s shoulder- but we were able to go for a quick alpine jaunt up McBride Peak yesterday…

Every time we visit Ben’s family in McBride we always go home thinking about moving that way for obvious reasons 😍
