I had such a nice time camping, selling wares and celebrating the reopening of the Berg Lake Trail at Mt. Robson Provincial Park this past weekend!

It was very nostalgic to spend time in the area since Ben spent 3 years as a Park Ranger out at Mt. Robson (several years ago eeeeek)!
In that time I got very familiar with the area especially morning walks on the Berg Lake Trail. It was also so inspiring for my art practice and helped me develop my children’s books “The Not-So Great Outdoors” and “Outside Art” and was the place of a lot of sketching. It’s safe to say Mt. Robson has a place in my heart forever!

I will be out of studio this week on vacation but I am still planning on doing an online shop update July 13 9am PT.

The taller cups were meant to fit a silicone travel lid but the design was off so now they are just really cute tumblers!

I snapped these pictures yesterday morning, since then these have have been waxed, glazed and are currently going through their glaze firing. It will be ready to be unloaded Wednesday morning, fingers crossed the kiln gods have been kind🤞👀

These pieces will be available at Mt. Robson Provincial park this coming Saturday, June 28 from 10am-2pm.

A little gal tending to her garden.

I tried to plan a lot less with the foliage for this one. I had a rough composition and a sketch of the gal worked out and the rest was more intuition based. Some things got overworked in my opinion but overall it turned out ok.
Downside was when I was taking off the tape, it caught on the upper right and tore the top layer of paper so I had to crop in a bit in photoshop to compensate.

My parents keep telling me how the cherry blossoms are just about to bloom down in Langley. Growing up in the lower mainland cherry blossoms were one of my harbingers of spring. I am an absolute sucker for drawing mountain goats, they are such otherworldly beasts with their fluffy white fur and horns!

When I was researching illustrations to go along with North Cascades National Park it really reminded me of so many of the places I’ve been able to hike and recreate on here in Canada. I am so angry that the frump administration does not recognize the non-economic value of these places (and yes, I recognize the Canadian government also struggles with this too)

Protected land need to remain protected for the sake of the environment and our future hikers.

Oof. It’s a tough time to live on earth and I’ve really been feeling it lately.

I have however found a lot of solace in quilting. I’ve been finding the methodical approach exactly what I’ve been needing these days.
Pressing, cutting, pressing, sewing, pressing, sewing… it makes so much more sense than most other things.

I’ve been working on this little table runner which just needs the binding to be hand stitched.
Last week I made some throw pillow cushions that I’m proud of… I’ve also made potholders that didn’t turn out but I still learned from regardless.

It’s a chilly -20°c out there today so I took the time and made my first Ohio Star!

A cozy detail from a small commission project I did this past fall. (And some other recent photos)

It’s been hard to not feel insignificant in the wake of recent events. I’ve been at a loss of what to post and if I should.
But aside from sharing occasional things in my stories, what have I been up to this month? Honestly, I’ve been trying to lean into rest during this time of year and prioritize different forms of self care:
- I caught up on some loose ends in my neglected admin and bookkeeping.
- Getting outside for walks or skis in the snow (or ice) and enjoying the ever so slightly longer days.
- Ben is the owner of a shiny new mountain sled so he took me out into the mountains last week to brap around the alpine.
- We bought a sewing machine secondhand a while ago but hadn’t taken it out until this month. I’ve been learning to sew and last week I took a two day beginner’s quilting class where I made a quilted table runner.
- Lots of snuggles with Heidi
- Sleeping in.
- Working with my naturopath to improve my energy levels.

I’ve just updated my online shop and have been so torn as to whether to do it or wait until shipping hellscape stabilizes. 
Canada Post, which is usually the most cost effective shipping option for small businesses has been on strike since November 15th.
I wholeheartedly support the strike and am in favour of living wages and improved conditions for its postal workers, however, it has lead to sky rocketing prices and gouging with all other courier services. (Not to mention the USPS not accepting Canadian parcels for the time being due to volume)
I have also made the decision to make it easier on myself and just ship to Canada and the USA for the time being.

I know certain *corporations* offer free shipping and no delays but PLEASE shop local where you can, small businesses are needing it more than ever this year and holiday season.
Honestly, I am in favour of you spending your money locally and in your community as opposed to on my online shop.

If you are local to Prince George and the surrounding area I do offer free local pickup @dandylinespg here in Prince George.

You can also request to order my children’s books through your local indie book seller!!
