A bear enjoying a cup of tea in his den.

I’ve been working on trying to ignore scale and have more playful compositions. I find I often set arbitrary rules for myself when I really don’t need to! So many of my favourite artists throw perspective by the wayside and I think I need to channel that more!

FAEPRIL 20 - NURTURE

A little gal tending to her garden.

I tried to plan a lot less with the foliage for this one. I had a rough composition and a sketch of the gal worked out and the rest was more intuition based. Some things got overworked in my opinion but overall it turned out ok.
Downside was when I was taking off the tape, it caught on the upper right and tore the top layer of paper so I had to crop in a bit in photoshop to compensate.

My parents keep telling me how the cherry blossoms are just about to bloom down in Langley. Growing up in the lower mainland cherry blossoms were one of my harbingers of spring. However, here in Prince George we are still in “fool’s spring” and have a long ways to go before trees bud out and eventually blossom!

✨✨ FAEPRIL ✨✨  Lately I have been struggling to find my way back into a regular art practice so I’ve been exploring different ways to get back into a creative routine and have fun! I’ve realised I never seem to tire of drawing little faeries and elves so thought this would be the perfect springboard.
